As a BC trained teacher, Jace has cultivated an expertise in the co-creation of culturally relevant, trauma-informed, and place-based education. As a systems thinker and change agent, Jace authored 7 national Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Education curricula influencing the outreach programs of 33 post secondary institutions through her previous work with Actua Canada and Canada Learning Code. Her most formative experiences were spent leading a Northern outreach program across the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Teaching in public, non-profit, and industry contexts, Jace’s teaching has reached more than 1.25 million learners from coast to coast to coast. Jace stepped into the world of e-commerce in 2017, and led the creation of Shopify’s onboarding training program for their research and development teams, notably launching RnD Camp, an onboarding accelerator program for all new employees and RnD Media - an on-demand educational media strategy to support their international expansion and continuous learning of employees through videos and podcasts. In 2019, Jace championed a new area of work for the ecommerce company, creating her role as the Lead for Indigenous Entrepreneurs, and formed a global network of Indigenous entrepreneurship education hubs to support the rise of Indigenous economic well being globally. Her Indigenous advocacy support never wavered. As a fierce advocate for Indigenous entrepreneurs, Jace has traveled the globe and spoken to 70,000 people in order to co-create the conditions necessary for Indigenous entrepreneurs to thrive. In 2019 Jace was recognized as a BMW World Responsible Leader. Her role as the Executive Director of the Indigenous Innovation Institute, a project of the First Nations Technology Council, allowed Jace to braid her STEM, Education, and Ecommerce experiences together to develop a strategic vision for a community space for Indigenous-led technology innovation. As a serial entrepreneur and a busy mom, Jace launched COYA Productions Inc in order to prioritize experiencing joy with her daughter everyday. Currently living on the territory of the Lekwungen speaking peoples, Jace serves on the board of directors for the Victoria Native Friendship Center, the Indigenous LIFT Collective, and is an advisor for the Founders Fund and Sage Initiative.
